Green Chilli Pickle

Its winters and no Indian meal is complete without a home made spicy pickle. Last Sunday for the first time i went to the local vegetable market near by. In India we call it hatt, its a weekly market, which usually sells more or less each and every item required in your daily chaos. So, while i was totally mesmerized by the freshness and the colours of the vegetables sold there and somehow i just couldn't get my eyes off this huge heap of green chilies. So i got some home and didn't really know what to do with them as i didn't want it to go bad. So, finally i decided to make a green chilly mustard pickle. This pickle is quite a staple in Assamese meals but the version i am doing has a major influence of north India.

Dal Makhani | Indian Recipe | Vegan version

As winters have just about set in, and woolens have been sunned. I am set to welcome the minimalist winters here in the southern part of my country. I miss those lovely winters of the north where you clad yourself with layers and layers of clothing. Ahhhh... Can't really get those winters here but atleast I can cook myself some favorite recipes that are especially cooked this time of the year. One of my personal favorite has to the "dal makhani".  As a child I just hated daal ( all kids that age did or still do ) until 5 years back I tasted the most amazing Dal makhani in the royal city of Jodhpur. And believe you me the taste was to die for and since than I have crazily fallen in love with that dish.. Not that I found the same taste else where but just the thought of that taste keeps my love alive for it.

Mixed herb bread

Hello everyone, here's another bread recipe for you all. The other day when I made garlic rolls I had some dough left so I decide to do another bread version there and than. I really didn't follow any recipe so I don't know what to call it. I guess I would simply call it mix herb flat bread.  Ingredients that I used was what ever I saw at that moment in front of my eyes on my spice & herb rack. But to make it's even easier I will give you the exact herbs . So go on and enjoy

Garlic Rolls | Tea Time Snacks

It's been a while since I have baked. Today I am doing a very very simple yet melt in the mouth bread roll. Garlic rolls that I would like to call them. They are absolutely marvelous. The other day I was going through a few food communities and I came across this recipe. I couldn't believe it could be so easy to do and taste so lovely at the same time. And because I had not baked for a while I couldn't stop my self from trying it out ASAP.

Ice cream Cake/muffins | eggless oil less

Hello beautiful readers.. There was this slab of ice cream in my deep freezer for a while now. And I didn't know what to do with it as I hate to serve simple ready made ice cream to my guests unless something innovative is done with it. So, last week while I was going through a food magazine and What caught my attention was this recipe of cake which required only 03 ingredients and no eggs or oil. So I thought it's the perfect recipe to utilize the ice cream in my freezer.

Charcoal face pack | Fabindia | Beauty regime

Hello everybody. Today I am giving out no recipe neither am I talking about anything from my kitchen. Well, yes intention  definitely was to buy some organic spices & dry herbs from my favorite store FabIndia. FabIndia seems to meet all my requirements right from clothing, junk jewelry, furniture, home decor, linen, spices and now my toiletries too. Though I have been using its soaps, body washes, lotions & lip balm for a while now. But today while I walked into the store to look for the spices, the first thing that caught my eyes was this "Charcoal mud face pack" & I couldn't resist myself and ended up buying it straight way as i have read some where that charcoal is a dirt magnet . And as a result I did not pick up what I actually went there for.

She'reya | seviyan | vermicelli kheer with rose flavour

Now that eid-ul-fitr is just round the corner. Today I decided to give out the recipe of a dish without which no eid is complete. Seviya, it is by and large made in almost every continent in the world. In Italy it's called vermacelli, basically it's a kind of pasta, which is used as a dessert and as a side dish both. These roasted, sugared noodles are traditional dessert served on eid. You can either make them as sweetened milky soup or dried.

Atte halwa | whole wheat halwa | Sheera

Atte ke halwa is a popular sweet dish in North India. My childhood memory of this is of the gurudwara's. I remember dragging my parents every Sundays to the near by gurudwara so that i could get to eat my favourit halwa. The place i belong to Assam, halwa is not really a specialty and people can really go wrong with it. i remember as a kid i would hate halwa only because of the wrong preparation of it. For us in Assam sooji halwa ment only baby food and not a dessert. As i grew up in a community where me & my family met people from almost every state in India. Now i can proudly share the perfect recipe of atte ka halwa & believe me it tastes good.

White Chocolate Mango mousse

Hello everyone, today I am doing a recipe from the last lot of ripe mango's from my back yard. As I have mentioned before that I am not a great fan of mango's so I really come up with too many innovative ideas from this fruit. The other day one of my friend sent me pictures of the mango mousse that she made for her boys. (Yes, she is a mother if three boys and still so active and total fun person to be with). The picture looked so tempting that I couldn't stop myself from taking the recipe from her to try it out with few very minimal changes from my side. This recipe is totally "Vegan" and you would love to try it out.

KHOW SUEY | BURMESE DISH | ASIAN CUISINE

Hii Friends, today i am doing "Khow Suey" (Burmese coconut gravy with egg noodles) for you all. For some it might be a recipe never heard of and some like me might be in crazy love with it. Well the first time ever i had this dish was when my parents & I where invited to to the Myanmar Embassy way back in 2005 for the "THINGYAN" the Burmese water festival, yes its is quite like our festival Holi but no colours only water,(i really wished i had pictures to show you all). So, when i had it for the first time there i loved it as it was something different, something i had not tasted before. I liked it and i forgot about it(till then i didn't even know what was the dish called). Till i visited Bombay couple of years  later and my BBF and her hubby took me to this Asian restaurant in Phoenix Mill Mall in Lower Parel Mumbai. (I wonder if it still there) And the taste was to die for, the taste still lingers in my mouth. Ahhhhh... what a bliss it was to have that dish. Well i have had lots good and bad experience with khow suey. But why even talk about bad experiences here.

Super Quick Hummus

The most liked and popular dip off-late "hummus". Hummus is an origin of the Middle Eastern cuisine. The name " Hummus'' actually means chickpeas or even more popularly know in India as chole. It got popular in India with the ever growing fondness for Lebanese cuisine.

Orange Pound Cake

Aahh.. What a evening it is, as I sip my "cutting chai"(a Bombay terminology used for tea served in a small glass) and bit into this juicy orange cake !!! what perfect combination. And specially after a crazy swimming session. As I geared up to bake today I realized that my oven has packed up completely (all it does is warms up food)Super duper sad day for me, it's like i am handicapped now . But never the less I have my super efficient convection microwave to my rescue. It's hard to believe that it works as brilliantly as an oven.

Chicken & Vegetable Momo's (DimSum)

Yesterday we, 3S & P( my 3 friends names starting with "S" & "P" that's me for you) had a session of making & eating Momo's. We all got together at one of the friends place and we got started. S had already prepared the dough and the meat filling. I do make Momo's quite often but didn't really know how to shape them in the way they are supposed to be. So it was a training & fun session for all of us.

Beetroot chocolate cake

Weekend treat. This cake is full of goodness. Though I really wished the colour of the beetroot came out better, but believe you me the beetroot has given the cake that extra moisture & gueeness.
Sorry for the bad cake decoration. Not really very good at it.
