Garlic Rolls | Tea Time Snacks

It's been a while since I have baked. Today I am doing a very very simple yet melt in the mouth bread roll. Garlic rolls that I would like to call them. They are absolutely marvelous. The other day I was going through a few food communities and I came across this recipe. I couldn't believe it could be so easy to do and taste so lovely at the same time. And because I had not baked for a while I couldn't stop my self from trying it out ASAP.

Ingredients

For the dough

  • 1 1/2 Cups - whole wheat flour
  • 02 Tbsp - all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp - dry yeast
  • 01 tbsp - oil
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar
  • 1/2 tsp - salt
For the garlic filling
  • 50 gms - regular salted butter
  • 1/2 tsp - olive oil (so that the butter doesnot burn while baking)
  • 01 tbsp - finely chopped garlic
  • 01 tsp - dry oregano
  • 01 tsp - fresh coriander
  • Salt pepper as per taste.
Method

  1. Mix 1/4 cup of lukewarm milk with yeast mix and keep aside for 15 mins to ferment.
  2. In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients along with cold butter, give it a nice mix.
  3. Now add the remaining milk to the yeast mixture & pour over the dry ingredients slowly as you knead into a soft dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a moist cloth and keep aside for about 45 mins in a warm place.
  5. The dough would have raised to double its size, knead it again.
  6. Beat the butter along with the spices till light and fluffy.
  7. Divide the dough into 03 parts.
  8. Roll one of the parts into a flat 1/2 inch thick round.
  9. Spread the garlic spread evenly on all rolled dough.
  10. Now roll the dough to form a cigar like shape.
  11. Cut the cigar like rolls into 4 parts.
  12. Grease a baking pan and place the rolls, brush them with rest of the garlic spread if any is left. Sprinkle Onion seeds on top and bake for 30 mins at 180 degrees or till it turns golden brown.
  13. Serve with tea as an evening snack or even with dinner.
